Did you always want to be in the media? If not, what other careers were on the horizon?
No, I didn’t actually, I fell into it doing college radio. I’ve always wanted to make movies though.
Where would you like to be five years from now?
Directing feature films.
Any advice for people getting started in your industry?
Be nice to everyone, meet as many people as you can, work your ass off, and do your research.
What are your favourite media outlets, not including your own?
CBC, CNN, Hollywood Reporter, CNET, AllThingsD.com, Cinemablend.com, Rolling Stone, Exclaim, NME, Sportsnet, TSN and I’d be lying if I didn’t include Twitter.
Best interview you’ve ever had?
Katy Perry from last week is up there but chatting with David Suzuki changed my life.
I won’t say which band it was, but they clearly didn’t want to be there. There were two of them doing the interview. The one member was great. The singer, on the other hand, was spinning in his chair, giving one word answers, playing with his mic, breathing heavily/loudly, and just being cranky. It was like a toddler throwing a tantrum.
