Grown-up dress-up in its most fabulous form: the Met Gala. Every year, beautiful A-listers strut their stuff in the most glamorous and costume-y dresses and suits out there. And with a theme such as “China: Through The Looking Glass”, opulence reigns (so.many.crowns.) at this year’s Costume Institute Benefit Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and here are our very favourite looks!

First things first: Beyoncé. Queen Bey humbled us all once again with her sheer force in Givenchy, repping the highest of ponytails. Oh, and this (goals).

As if she just walked off the runway, Diane Kruger dazzles in this pale ornate bustier and sheer pants by Chanel Haute Couture.

Looking amazing as per usual, Joan Smalls appears to us in a delicate yet rocker-esque violet flower appliqué dress by Roberto Cavalli.

Breathtaking in jade, Kendall Jenner wows in a beaded and side-laced creation by Calvin Klein Collection.

Older sister Kimmy K. knows how to stay on theme with delicate Chinese detailing, gorgeous plumage and little to no skin coverage- seriously hawt.

One to rival SJP in all her costume glory is Lady Gaga, in this dark, beautiful birdcage-like kimono look by Balenciaga- another empress is in our midst. P.S. Oh hi Alex Wang!

Olivia Munn stuns in this chiffon ombré dress by J. Mendel, with nails to match.

Kerry Russell boasts the confidence and the elegance of a pretty peacock in this Altuzarra creation- it’s just so right.

By far one of the most unique and outstanding pieces, Solange Knowles wears this Gilles Deacon dress like no other could.

With nothing but a flaming red dragon covering her, J.Lo – the woman on fire – simply burns up on the red carpet in Atelier Versace.

And finally, honourable mentions go out to three individuals: Rihanna for her showstopping canary yellow train-cape by Guo Pei, Jessica Hart with her gorgeous red floor-length beaded Charlotte Olympia dress and the Biebs, with his gold custom Balmain jacket- You guys also hit the nail on the head! See all of you stunnas at the Met Gala next year!
