With the warm (or hot af) summer season coming to an end, we’re gearing up for the brisk fall air and refreshing respite from humidity. Where PSL-lovers unite and blanket scarves thrive, the fall season is downright unreal. Fall booties come out and play and warm tones make their debut. But wait… what about our skincare?

During the summer months our skin tends to be exposed to more moisture and sunlight. When the fall months come along, our skin needs a reboot! That’s where we come in 😉

We’re going to share five tips to transition your summer skincare routine to your fall routine:

1. Scrub, scrub, scrub!

Exfoliating your skin is an important part of your weekly routine year-round. However, it’s highly encouraged to exfoliate once or twice a week (depending on your skin) with a gentle scrub that won’t tear your skin but will rub away all those gross dead skin cells. Try Consonant Skincare’s 20% Clay Exfoliating Cleansing Bar with Manicouagan Clay from Quebec. Its 100 per cent natural ingredients are exactly what you need!

2. Change your moisturizer

Commonly speaking, most people think sticking with the same moisturizer is a good thing. Your skin gets used to the formula and you don’t break-out – win-win! Wrong. When fall rolls around, the air gets colder and drier, which means your skin needs more moisture. Reach for a power-packed, slightly thicker moisturizer. Let it do its work and you’ll see results in no time.

3. Avoid alcohol-based toners

For some people toners are a must-have in their skincare routine. For others, not so much. For those who do use a toner, switch out your alcohol-based toner for one without. During the summer it’s great to have to keep your oily skin in-check. During the fall? Na uh! This dehydrates the skin and it will be b-e-g-g-i-n-g for moisture.

4. Mask away!

Using a mask during the summer (or year-round) is encouraged. But we’re here to tell you to grab your girlfriends, a bottle of wine, some Bridget Jones and mask away! Hop over to Sephora or your nearest drugstore and check out masks that encourage skin renewal, clarification, deep cleansing or clear improvement. 5. Personalize

Despite the copious amount of information and tips people provide (ie. this blog post), it’s very important to always customize your skincare routine for your skin. Consider: age, skin type, exposure and diet. If all else fails, visit your dermatologist and ask every question under the sun.
