It’s hard to imagine there was ever a time in Cory Lee’s career when she wasn’t ready and able to exhibit some kind of fire. It’s fair to say that Lee has never failed to stand up for what she believes in: “It’s about working hard even when people want to put you down, keeping your head in the right place and keeping on going in the hopes it will pay off.”
It has for Lee. In 2005, following the release of her debut album, What a Difference a Day Makes, Lee paid out of her own pocket for radio promotion for her single, “The Naughty Song.” Ultimately “The Naughty Song” garnered Lee nominations for a 2006 JUNO, an Indie Music Award for Pop Artist of the Year and multiple Canadian Radio Music Awards.
A talented dancer, model and actress Lee has appeared in shows as diverse as The L Word, Instant Star, Being Erica, The Chris Isaak Show and Degrassi: The Next Generation. Her music has been featured in Falcon Beach, Blood Ties and the feature film, Another Gay Movie, among others, and, after releasing her sophomore record, Sinful Innocence, in 2007, Lee partnered with La Perla Lingerie and set out on a tour of Asia and Europe.
Following her 2012 record, Hot Pink Heart, Lee reevaluated what she wanted to achieve in her career and who she wanted to work with to ensure her future records truly reflected her growth and goals as an artist. “I wanted to write songs that were honest and vulnerable, but still come across confident,” she says.
She truly has done it all! She has released numerous albums, appeared in numerous television shows and feature films, plus in 2015 Cory launched a fashion blog called The Fashion Set. She loves to create and tell a story whether it’s through her music, a character, or a blog post. Cory is also currently working on new music for 2017. Lots to look out for from this triple threat!
