As another precious long weekend approaches some of us are scrambling to make plans worthy of this August heat. Luckily, Toronto is a hot spot for fun activities, and this weekend is packed with tons of events that will have you wishing summer could last forever.

Outdoor Music

Nothing says Canadian Long Weekend quite like beer, Drake and outdoor music festivals. Here are three of the many music events happening this weekend:

Drake’s annual OVO fest is back on Monday, August 7 at the Budweiser Stage (909 Lake Shore Blvd W.) The lineup includes Drake, Majid Jordan, PartyNextDoor, and of course, his always-legendary surprise special guests. Tickets start at $65 and are still available here.

If electronic music is more up your alley, Electric Island will also be back on Monday with headliners like Nina Kraviz and Deetron. Head over to Port Lands (51 Comissioners St.) for a day of loud beats, crazy dancing and great times. Tickets are only $50 and can be purchased here.

For the dedicated music lovers out there, VELD is also happening this weekend at Downsview Park (35 Carl Hall Rd.) This 2-day rave will include world-famous DJs like Tiësto, Zedd, and Major Lazer as well as artists like Future, Tory Lanez and Migos. Get your tickets here.

Street Festivals

Sunny weather and an extra day off work calls for partying it up with locals on Toronto’s streets! Whether you’re looking to dance or dine, you’re sure to find what your looking for this weekend.

Toronto’s biggest and baddest party is back this weekend. Come celebrate the beauty of Caribbean culture at the annual Caribana weekend. Hit up the grand parade on Saturday or check out some of the numerous family events and nightlife parties hapening until Monday. Whatever you do, don’t forget your colourful ensemble or your energy.

Head over to Woodbine Park (1695 Queen Street E.) this weekend for four full days of live music and gourmet food trucks at the 4th annual Toronto Food Truck Festival. There will be over 50 Food Trucks and the park will be temporarily fully licensed, so get ready to drink, dine, and watch some ridiculous eating competitions. The best part? Entry to the festival is free!

Sporting Events

From August 5-13, Toronto will be hosting the world’s best female tennis players for the annual Rogers Cup. Come cheer on Venus, Genie, and all your other favourite tennis ladies as they compete at York University’s Aviva Centre (1 Sherman Drive). Both individual game tickets and multi-session packages are available here.

No matter what you get up to this weekend, we’re sure it’ll be awesome. Have fun!
