It’s that time of the year again when the only thing you want to do is stay inside and never leave your bed. With the temperature consistently in the negatives, it’s easy to forget about all the fun things to do in the city to keep the positive vibes flowing. Although the winter months are not everyone’s favourite time of the year, there are plenty of fun things to do around the city that will keep you cheerful.
1. Go for an outdoor skate
The city of Toronto offers more than 50 outdoor skating rinks to check out this winter! Whether it be the hotspot rink at Toronto City Hall or the new Bentway skating trail under the Gardiner, there are plenty of scenic spots around town to appreciate the winter months and capture some fun pics.
2. Treat yourself – Blitz Facial Bar
While these freezing winter months can do a lot of damage to your mood, they can also do some quality damage to your skin. Blitz Facial Bar offers some of the best facials in the city and will most definitely leave you glowing for weeks to come. And the best part, they’re very affordable. Nothing like a little TLC for your skin to brighten up these gloomy days.
3. Be a tourist in your own city
Spend an afternoon hitting up some of Toronto’s best museums. The ROM and AGO are both great (and warm) spots to meander away a cold afternoon while enjoying some of the great art and science Toronto has to offer.
4. Concert Month
January is a solid time for music in the city. With a variety of great acts playing in Toronto this month you’re bound to find a new sound to warm your soul. Whether it be a more intimate night with The Bahamas at Massey Hall or a glamorous night with Lana Del Rey at the ACC, there is something for everyone.
There has never been a better time to try out that pricey restaurant you haven’t been able to stop thinking about. Starting January 26, Toronto’s 2018 Winterlicious will include more than 200 restaurants city-wide. I’m full just thinking about it.
6. Warm up with FITPOP
Warm up with the newest fitness class around town! Canadian actress and choreographer MJ Shaw has recently released the newest fitness program. FITPOP turns working out into your favourite part of the week. With an upbeat playlist and dance moves you’ll be sure to stay warm this season and get your summer body ready much earlier than planned.
7. Be a FAN
Toronto has one of the most dedicated sports fan bases. Check out a Raps game or a Leafs game this season at the ACC. Out of the price range? Hit up Real Canadian Sports Bar for an equally energetic atmosphere to watch your favourite athletes make Toronto proud.
8. Award Season
It’s award season ladies and gentleman, so go to your nearest theatre and start checking out those oscar nominated flicks off the list. We’re big fans of Molly’s Game, but we guarantee there is something for everyone this Oscar season.
9. Give your home a little TLC
During the winter months we end up spending a lot of time in our apartments, so spend this winter sprucing it up. DIYs are the perfect winter project to fill your weekends and make your home the best space it can be! (Plants are always a good idea).
10. Learn a new recipe
A warm, indoor activity that will have you thanking yourself later. Take the time this winter to finally put those recipes you have saved on your Pinterest board into action and have your lunch prepared for the whole week. Check out our recent post on tasty soup recipes here!
